Purpose
This module provides an introduction to ethical considerations in the treatment and care of the dying patient. It is designed for use in Trinity Health and is consistent with Catholic tradition, the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, and ethical principles.

Target Audience
The primary audiences for this ethics module include those involved in patient care at the end of life, clinical ethics committee members, and administrators on call. Secondary audiences include others involved in patient care and management.

Goal
To enhance clinical care through ethical knowledge about decision making, withholding and withdrawing treatment, artificial nutrition and hydration and pain management.
